Montfort Alumni Badminton Group (MABG) started in May 2004 with 6 Montfortians at the Montfort Junior School Hall, made available through the kind generosity of the Principal, Ms Judina Chua.
Presently on record, we have about 30 players, age ranging from 20s to 60s, and on average we have about 12 to 15 regulars playing weekly on Wednesday nights, from 7.00pm to 10.00pm.
As there are 3 courts available, we welcome more shuttlers to join in the sweat it out. We oldies run out of steam too fast. The ideal would be would be around 20 players.
As many Montfortians do not play golf, the Badminton weekly serves other members an opportunity to meet, network and sweat out those extra kilos. We are still in our infancy, and we are not ready to have any competition yet. But it will happen soon enough. Now it is the “Battle of our Bulges”.
It is well known that Montfort had won many trophies at the national level. We even had an old boy, Chia Yong Joo who represented Singapore in international games.
There are plans to reach out to more members and develop the MABG further with the help of Yong Joo. We will keep you posted.
Join us every Wednesday night. You can also check out who are the badminton enthusiasts in the Member Search feature. See you.
